Grants

jsl grants

Each year, the Junior Service League of Independence supports efforts of area non-profits through our Community Grants Programthl. We are proud of our tradition of giving to the community, not only in service, but in resources. Throughout our more than 70 years, we have been a dynamic force in Eastern Jackson County, contributing to numerous agencies. It is our practice to give financial support to assist projects or programs that will benefit people in the Greater Eastern Jackson County area.

Junior Service League partners with the Truman Heartland Community Foundation in funding grants. This eliminates the need for duplicate applications and expands funding possibilities. Please use the Truman Heartland Community Foundation annual grant process at www.thcf.org.

JSL Members attended the Truman Heartland Community Foundation Grants Luncheon on October 16th. JSL partners with THCF in funding our grants as we both have a vision and passion for improving the Greater Eastern Jackson County area. Each year, the Junior Service League of Independence supports efforts of area non-profits through our Community Grants Program.

JSL was proud to present three non-profit organizations with grant funding this year.

Hope Network of Raytown – Help for Poor Families – $5,000

This grant will provide operating support for Hope Network’s Help for Poor Families program. This program provides emergency assistance, foot pantry, clothing closet, shelter, senior commodities, school supplies, and holiday gifts for families in financial need.

Peace Partnerships – In-School Counseling Program – $5,000

This grant will provide for the addition of a Master’s-level counseling internship so Peace Partnership can add a third school to their in-school counseling program. This program intends to help at-risk children get the emotional support they need to succeed in school and life by offering quality, free counseling in their own schools.

Truman Medical Center Charitable Foundation – Lakewood New Parent Education Classes – $5,000

This grant will provide program support for TMC-Lakewood’s New Parent Education Classes which teach important information about the care and safety of new babies for underserved new parents to help ease the transition to parenthood.

We are proud of our tradition of giving to the community, not only in service, but in resources. We look forward to the impact that these grants will make in the Greater Eastern Jackson County area.
